Ideation techniques to solve user problems

How can these different techniques help to solve our biggest and most important issues?

Ideation techniques and point of view statements go hand in hand, and they are both critical to UX design. They help the user understand what is going on around them and how to find the best solutions to their issue or what they are trying to do. Ideation is at the heart of the design process for graphic and interactive design and how we use the best-case techniques for the ideation process is key. Brainstorming, brain dumping, mind mapping and storyboarding are all ideation techniques that may work better for certain individuals or certain scenarios.

I am going to briefly go over some point of view statements and how ideation can help solve user issues in this discussion but my full presentation with more statements and examples can be found at the link at the bottom of this blog. The point of view statement that I created based off the app Evoto, a photo editing app for mobile and desktop, is based around how users need to pay a lot to get the best experience and how social media apps already have great photo editing. For this statement provocation and analogies are two ideation techniques that could be used to expand on this and find the best possible solution. They both introduce alternative scenarios and ideas that can represent alternate viewpoints to find out what the best possible answer is for user problems.

Another example of a point of view statement that could be analyzed further is my statement that I previously created for Adobe Lightroom in being that many users who want to find the best photo editing app or software and that they need to read all reviews to make a final decision. Some ideation techniques that could work for something like this could be brainstorming and brain dumping. These techniques will allow the user to get input and feedback on what is the best solution for them from multiple sources and places, allowing them to make the best and most educated decision.

There is so many more ideation techniques, but these ones listed here are some of the most popular and best techniques that will allow the user to be able to make their best decision possible. Finding out what is the best ideation technique could be easy if the user considers all the online literature available on the internet and all their in-person sources around them.
